Fried or Boiled Eggs - Which is better?



Eggs are the common staple food in the various communities of the world. There are numerous methods in preparing the eggs and benefits in consuming this wonderful and inexpensive food.


'Warning'- Reading this article might lead to hunger and heading to the kitchen for some eggs.


This article will discuss on which eggs are better, fried or boiled or does it even matter?

Let's start off with me sharing on the various methods in cooking the eggs.


- Boiled eggs

Hard boiled eggs are cooked in their shells in a pot of boiling water for 6 to 10 minutes. The time also depends on how well-cooked you want the yolk


- Poached eggs

Poached eggs are cooked slightly in cooler water and a shorter period of time (approximately 2 to 3 minutes.


- Fried eggs

Eggs that are cracked into a hot pan that contains a thin layer of cooking oil. You can choose either 'sunny side up' or 'over easy.' Yummy!! Makes me feel hungry already.


- Baked eggs

One of the most unusual way to cook an egg. Honesty, this is the first time I had ever heard of it. The method is to cook the cracked egg is place on flat surface in a hot oven until it is set.


- Scrambled eggs

These eggs are beaten or stirred while it is on a pan over low heat until they are set. Add a pinch of salt or other condiments according to your preference.


- Omelet

To make an omelet, eggs are beaten and poured into a hot pan. The eggs are cooked slowly over a low heat until they are solid. The usual 'additional' ingredients are grated cheese, mushrooms, scallions, onions and garlic. You may add milk to increase fluffiness of the eggs.


There are numerous benefits in eating eggs. Here are some of it which you can consider.


- High protein

Eggs are a good sources of biotin. It is an important nutrient used in fat and sugar metabolism. The high protein content also helps in muscle building.


- High in cholesterol but no need to worry

Studies have not shown a link between eggs consumption and an increased risk of heart disease in healthy people. A 2018 study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed you can eat up to 12 egg per week up without it negatively impacting your health.


- Cooked eggs can eliminate bacteria

Microbes like Salmonella can cause food poisoning is greatly eliminated through eating cooked eggs.


- Eggs contain healthy fats

Many eggs sold in supermarkets contain healthy fats like Omega-3. Omega-3 is good for the immune system and the eyes.


To me personally,boiling or frying eggs is up to an individual preference. For that matter, it doesn't matter on the preparation but it is an integral and should be incorporated into your diet.
